AI can be a controversial topic, and we want to be transparent about its role in this project.

Where we don't use AI

We do not use AI to generate our mission, principles, objectives, or project direction.

Where we do use AI

In the pursuit of our mission, we use AI for:

  • Organizing our content and planning.
  • Reviewing our messaging to improve clarity.
  • Documenting in clear and consistent language.
  • Creating rapid site boilerplate code.
  • Exploring different approaches.
  • Researching subjects we are not experts in.
    • This still requires human fact-checking!
  • Taking interesting learning detours while we work.
  • Generating raw notes to follow up on (Project Notes).
  • Accelerate the exploration of solutions to big challenges.

The draft logo was created by a designer prompting AI through a series of iterations (human imagination guiding an AI paintbrush).

The environmental impact of AI

We are committed to using AI in an environmentally responsible manner. We believe every honest attempt to solve a real problem is worth the expenditure of some amount of energy and resources -- learning how best to evaluate the cost-benefit of using resources in the pursuit of solutions is an imprecise and ongoing process.
